What is HomeGate?
HomeGate is a proxy for self-hosters. It sits between the internet and your home services — Jellyfin, Immich, OpenClaw, Ollama, Plex, Nextcloud, anything — and gives them a public URL with SSL while keeping your IP hidden.
Does it work behind CGNAT?
Yes. That's the whole point. HomeGate connects to your server via Tailscale, so it works regardless of your ISP, NAT type, or firewall. No port forwarding needed.
Can I stream video through HomeGate?
Yes. Unlike some alternatives, HomeGate has no restrictions on video, photos, or large files. Stream from Jellyfin, Plex, or any media server without ToS concerns.
What services can I use with it?
Any HTTP-based service: Jellyfin, Immich, OpenClaw, Ollama, Plex, Nextcloud, Vaultwarden, Home Assistant, Gitea — anything that runs on a port. We're also working on TCP/UDP proxying for game servers, remote gaming with Moonlight/Sunshine, and other non-HTTP services. Stay tuned.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No contracts, no lock-in. Cancel from the dashboard and your service stays active until the end of your billing period.
Do I need to install anything on my family's devices?
No. HomeGate gives each service a regular HTTPS URL. Your family and friends just open a link in any browser — no VPN client, no account, no setup on their end. Only your home server needs Tailscale.
